Notes on LT, #1 to #7
- Words in -al have their cognates in Spanish with no change.
- Words in -tion have their cognates in Spanish with -cion.
- Words of latin origin in -ly have their cognates in Spanish with -mente.
- For verbs of latin origin with a corresponding -tion noun, the Spanish cognate infinitive replaces -cion with -ar
- The use of ir as an auxillary to convent the near future tense: “(auxiliary) to be going to; used to convey the near future tense (with a (+ infinitive)). “Voy a decirle la verdad. - I am going to tell her the truth.”
